Anyone who reads our blog regularly will know that we are huge fans of Compass Box. Not only do they make blending cool, they’re not afraid to try new things and the whiskies they do craft together are some of the finest around. One of the gems in their range is the Great King St Artists blend that we reviewed some time ago. Well now they have some experimental releases out; one sherried and one smokey and in a stroke of genius they’re asking the public to decide which should make it as a permanent release. It’s a bit like XFactor for grown ups really. And better.

Birmingham Whisky Festivals

It’s exciting times to drink whisky in Birmingham, or to be in Birmingham and like whisky! Not only do you lucky people have this blog (run by two Birmingham based whisky fans), you also have the Birmingham Whisky Club headed up by Amy Seton. The club meets monthly on a Thursday evening in the Old Joint Stock in the centre of Birmingham and so far has been through a fabulous range of tastings. And now for the really exciting part – the first Birmingham Whisky Festival!

Here’s a great event for your diary and its being held in Birmingham on 26 April!  The Birmingham Whisky Club will be hosting Stewart Buchanan who will be showcasing whisky from BenRiach and Glendronach.  You will be able to taste the BenRiach 12, BenRiach 16, BenRiach 17 Solstice, BenRiach 17 Septendecim, Glendronach 12, Glendronach 15, and the Glendronach 18.  Finally there will be something old and rare from BenRiach!
