The Diageo Special Releases launch is always the best event in the calendar. It presents a fabulous opportunity to try some unique, and frankly, very special whiskies from the Diageo stocks. The class of 2015 is superb. It contains all of the usual suspects and mixes in some of the lesser know distilleries in the portfolio. Read on and enjoy some of the finest whiskies of 2015.…

Feis Ile 2015 Day Three
Day three of the Feis is always a highlight. Caol Ila is the destination of choice and this year they put on a fabulous show – and even managed to steal the sun from Bruichladdich. We arrived at the sea front mid-morning and reacquainted ourselves with old friends; David, the manager and some of the tour guides at the distillery. We also bumped into the legendary Colin Dunn who was on fine form and looked after us well throughout the day.…
Feis Ile 2013 Day Seven
I suppose that we must apologise in advance for this post. It isn’t everyday that you get to sample some fabulous drams of Ardbeg on the peat bog. Oh… and try six Port Ellen’s at Port Ellen… in the actual kiln. But more of that later.…

This would be special!

Islay Festival Day One
What a start to the festival. Up at 05:00 to leave on the 07:00 sailing from Kennacraig. The air was still, the sea calm and the sun shining – 20 degrees at about 08:00. It was a promising start to the event.
Another side to LivingRoom Whisky
A quick post just to highlight another side of our blog! Jon’s a keen photographer and responsible for the majority of images on the site, but Mike is great artist and drew the picture you see above. It’s a scene that greats you as you step off the ferry at Port Ellen and presents one of the first difficult choices that you make when you’re on Islay – which way to go!
