A great line up of whiskies from Compass Box; the delicious Oak Cross, the utterly wonderful Hedonism and the new Flaming Heart – we were in for a treat. We started with the Oak Cross:
-
@TheWhiskyWire It’s called Oak Cross because 50% is aged in Bourbon Casks and the other 50% in US casks with new French oak heads. #CBTT20

Oak Cross went down a storm; it was time to move onto one of our all time favourites. Hedonism is unusual in that it is a blended grain whisky. This batch in particular takes its whiskies from three different distilleries including a 21 year old Port Dundas. As the commentary below illustrates, it was wonderful.

#CBTT2 The nose on Hedonishm is really unusual, especially for a grain, very menthol and herbal0

Flaming Heart 2012 was the one we had been waiting for. We’d been fortunate enough to try both the original and 10th anniversary bottling previously so we were really interested to try the latest incarnation. It did not disappoint:

Time to move onto our final dram of the night, in the form of the NEW Flaming Heart 2012 Edition. What does this dish up on the nose? #CBTT20

A great night organised by Steve of the Whisky Wire and Chris from Compass Box. We’re big fans of Compass Box and it was lovely to renew our acquaintance and drink some of their fabulous whiskies. Flaming Heart 2012 is certainly on our ‘buy’ list!

@TheWhiskyWire Hedonism slightly edged it but the Flaming Heart is amazing too #CBTT20
