Bruichladdich. One of, if not my favourite distillery (Jon) on the planet. I’ve been twice, and am making a third pilgrimage this May to the Feis Ile. This time Mike is coming and our group is already booked in for Jim’s masterclass. By already booked in, I mean I reserved places last June… 11 months before the tasting! Demand is huge and the event is superb. Anyway we were delighted to be invited onto the latest tweet tasting from Steve at The Whisky Wire which featured 4 cracking whiskies from Bruichladdich. Think of it as an appetiser to the main event in May if you will! That’s not to take anything away from the night we had here – 4 generous samples of 4 great whiskies including the 2006 Islay Barley (uber provenance, traceable back to a field on Islay) and the Black Art 3 (a deep, dark dram I tried with Jim (and 200 others!) in warehouse 12 last year).
We have recently tried and reviewed three out of the four whiskies here in a tasting at Nickolls and Perks in Stourbridge late last year so we thought we’d take an alternative approach to some notes and give you some images with a caption about each whisky. All of the spirits here are worth checking out – this was one of the best tweet tastings to date. Fact.
